There’s now an iPhone for everyone, the firm says

The iPhone X will go on sale on November 3, with pricing to start at $999 and go all the way up to $1,149 for the most expensive model.

And while some people think that the top configuration is the only worthy choice, Apple says that you should actually buy the iPhone model that is just right for you. This means that the company doesn’t care if you’re choosing the most expensive iPhone or not because what it’s aiming for is having “an iPhone for everyone.”

In an interview this week, Angela Ahrendts, the head of Apple’s retail business, explained that Apple Store staff had been specifically told not to try to sell customers the most expensive iPhone model, but the one that makes sense for their needs.

“Internally we said the tagline was ‘an iPhone for everyone.’ I prefer that we ask you who you’re buying it for. If they’re 6 or 7 years old, what do they need? If it’s someone who’s leaning into something else, what do they need? We do that with Mac, we do that with iPad, why wouldn’t we do that with the phone?” she says.

Hard choice

But truth be told, Apple doesn’t give much choice when it comes to the iPhone X. The anniversary iPhone will be available in just two versions, with 64GB and 256GB storage, and without microSD card support, customers should think twice before ordering the more affordable model.

With media files growing in size thanks to quality improvements and games and apps eating more space thanks to HD graphics and HQ audio, storing all content on a 64GB iPhone becomes quite a challenge, so paying $150 more for the 256GB version appears to be more like a safe bet.

The iPhone X will become available for pre-order on October 27, while the first units will be shipped to customers on November 3. Initial supply, however, is likely to be very limited, which means the device is expected to be sold out shortly after launch, with more units to arrive in stores throughout November.
