The Apple Store is currently down, as the Cupertino-based company is preparing to take the wraps off new iPhone models as part of an event at the Apple Park.

While you might be tempted to think otherwise, the Apple Store going down is something that Apple does on purpose in order to prepare for the addition of new models, so the service is expected to return back online when today’s keynote ends (in approximately 3 hours and a half).

“We’ll be back. We’re busy updating the Apple Store for you. Please check back soon,” the “error” message displayed to users trying to connect to the Apple Store reads.

New iPhone and Apple Watch models

Apple will introduce a total of 3 different iPhone models today, including the anniversary model that’s tentatively called iPhone X.

Equipped with an OLED display, iPhone X will come with an edge-to-edge screen with no Home button, and consequently with no fingerprint reader. Apple has decided to give up on it completely after it failed to embed Touch ID into the screen.

Instead, iPhone X will come with facial recognition, as well as with a glass body allowing for wireless charging. Fast charging will also be supported for the first time in history on an iPhone.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will also see daylight today, as Apple is reportedly planning to skip the 7s generation completely. As compared to the iPhone X, these two models would feature more subtle improvements and come with a design similar to the existing iPhone 7. A glass body, however, is likely to be used here as well, again enabling wireless charging.

Additionally, Apple will introduce a new Apple Watch which will possibly feature LTE support, as well as a 4K Apple TV. The keynote kicks off in a little over an hour, with the event to be packed with announcements since the company has so much to show.
