14 DAY TRIAL // The iPhone 8 is just around the corner, and so is the new iOS 11, Apple’s latest software update that’s currently at the tenth beta and prepared for the public launch later this month.
Apple hasn’t confirmed the release date of iOS 11, but it’s expected the new version would go live in September, as it’ll power the new iPhones launching September 12 out of the box. This means Apple is expected to finalize the operating system in the coming days, with the recently-released beta version likely to be the last one ahead of GM.
Another sign that iOS 11 is nearly complete is Apple’s marketing campaign involving the operating system, as iPhone and iPad users have started receiving notifications that highlight some of the new features coming with the update.
iOS 11 to launch this month
The notifications are being sent by the Tips app and some are called “Learn about the new Control Center coming in iOS 11” in order to try to entice users to tap them and read a description of each feature. Obviously, Apple is sending different notifications for the features that it announced for iOS 11, including the Files app, Do Not Disturb While Driving, and the new Control Center.
These notifications are tailored to each device, so iPhone users would get different teasers than those on the iPad because the features that come with iOS 11 are also different. For instance, on iPad iOS 11 will bring new options to interact with the dock, drag and drop support, and improved multitasking.
There’s still no release date for iOS 11, but with Apple taking the wraps off the new iPhones on September 12, we’re very likely just a few weeks away when all device will be updated to the new version.
iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, the fourth-generation iPad, and older models are the only ones that aren’t getting the new iOS 11, so if your device is newer than these, you should experience the full power of the updated operating system as well.
