We reported earlier today, July 21, that many of Apple's services, including the Mac App Store and OS X Software Update, were down for several hours for multiple users around the world, which could have predicted the fact that a new Beta build of OS X El Capitan 10.11 was about to be unveiled.

And so it did, as approximately one and half hours later, Apple started seeding the fourth Beta build of the anticipated OS X 10.11 El Capitan computer operating system to all developers enrolled in the Apple Developer Program. The new Beta is tagged as 15A226f and can be downloaded from your member center page.

We remind everyone that OS X 10.11 El Capitan is currently supported on the iMac (Mid 2007 or newer), MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer), MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer), Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer), MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer), Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer), and Xserve (Early 2009) hardware.

"This is a pre-release update to OS X v10.11. If you have OS X v10.11 installed, download this update by clicking Updates in the toolbar of the Mac App Store. If you do not have OS X 10.11 installed, use your download code on the Mac App Store to get started," reads the entry from our Apple Developer account.

The second Public Beta is coming soon

Now that OS X 10.11 El Capitan Beta 4 is available for download for developers, the rest of the world who wants to try the Beta builds of the next major version of OS X will be able to get the second Public Beta release in the coming days. We wrote an article about how to install OS X 10.11 El Capitan Public Beta a while ago, but please try to keep in mind that you won't be able to revert to a previous version of OS X.
