You need to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch now

Last week, on March 21, Apple unveiled the latest, most advanced iOS mobile operating system to date, version 9.3, during the "Let Us Loop You In" event that took place on the Apple campus in Cupertino.

iOS 9.3 introduced many great new features, starting with the Night Shift functionality that might help you sleep better, and continuing with support for password-protected or fingerprint-protected notes in the Notes app, as well as new 3D Touch gestures.

At that point in time, users were able to update to iOS 9.3 on their iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices, but it looks like many people reported an issue with some older devices, where they were unable to get past the activation screen.

Immediately after receiving so many reports, Apple pulled the iOS 9.3 software update for older iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices from their servers, and said that a new, patched version would be available again in the coming days. And today, March 28, 2016, Apple has started seeding the iOS 9.3 update to the affected devices.

The activation lock bug has been fixed

We've already reinstalled iOS 9.3 on our iPhone 5c smartphone, and we can confirm that the activation lock bug has been patched. We have also noticed that, this time, the update has 1.2 GB in size, as the March 21 one had only 112 MB. Devices affected by the issue are iPhone 4S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPad Mini 1, 2, and 3, and the fifth-generation iPod touch.

Users are urged to update their devices, whether they were affected by the activation lock bug or not, as soon as possible. The new iOS 9.3 update is now live, and you can apply it by opening the "Settings" app, pressing on the "General" section and then the "Software Updates" entry. When you see the iOS 9.3 update, press the "Download and Install" button, agree to the license agreement, and wait for iOS 9.3 to be installed.
