Users are urged to update their devices immediately

Apple released on Thursday the fifth beta of its upcoming iOS 11.2.5 operating system to registered developers and public beta testers, most probably to fix some regressions or issues from previous beta versions.

It's a bit unusual for Apple to release both the Developer beta and Public beta builds simultaneously, so fixing some important bugs may the main reason behind this unexpected move from the Cupertino-based company. Therefore we recommend all users to update their devices as soon as possible.

Only the iOS 11.2.5 operating system received the beta 5 treatment as the macOS 10.13.3 High Sierra, tvOS 11.2.5, and watchOS 4.2.2 operating systems remain at the beta 4 milestone that Apple released a couple of days ago. iOS 11.2.5 beta 5 (15D5057a) is now available for all users running beta 4 via over-the-air (OTA) updates.

Earlier this week, on January 9, Apple released the fourth beta of iOS 11.2.5, tvOS 11.2.5, macOS 10.13.3 High Sierra, and watchOS 4.2.2 operating systems to developers, and the public beta versions of iOS 11.2.5, macOS 10.13.3, and tvOS 11.2.5 came in the same day, but after a few hours. The release notes are unchanged for now.

iOS 11.2.5, macOS 10.13.3, tvOS 11.2.5, and watchOS 4.2.2 coming soon

We're installing this fifth beta update of iOS 11.2.5 as we speak on our iPhone 7 unit, and we'll update this story as soon as we discover any changes since the beta 4 release. Most probably there won't be any, and battery life is still disappointing at the moment of writing, but we will let you know if anything changes in that regard.

It shouldn't be long until Apple releases the iOS 11.2.5, macOS 10.13.3, tvOS 11.2.5, and watchOS 4.2.2 operating systems for supported iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Macs, Apple TV, and Apple Watch devices. We hope to see new battery features in iOS 11.2.5, as Apple promised them last month after the old iPhone throttling fiasco.

Update: Apple released on January 12, 2018, the tvOS 11.2.5 beta 5 software update for Apple TV 4th generation and Apple TV 4K devices. The new beta version is available for registered developers and public beta testers.
