Apple recently posted its financial results for the first quarter of 2017 and announced that it recorded an all-time sales record with iPhone 7 models and Apple Watch units.

The results weren’t surprising after in Q4 2016 Apple managed to capitalize on Samsung’s missteps and surpassed the South Korean company when it came to global smartphone shipments and market share.

During the press conference for announcing its latest financial results, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has also stated that the iPhone 7 Plus is the most popular “Plus” model that the company has ever sold. Truth be told, Apple announced only two other Plus phones, the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus.

Still, it seems that Apple’s decision to up the display size on Plus models has paid off, considering that the iPhone 7 Plus with its 5.5-inch display outsold the 4.7-inch iPhone 7, the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus, and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus.

The iPhone 7 Plus is more expensive than the standard model

The two other Plus models have the same display and did offer more advanced features compared to the standard versions. This means that the dual-camera setup on the back of the iPhone 7 Plus was the phone’s main selling point, despite the fact that it costs $120 more compared to the standard model.

The 7 Plus comes with both a standard wide-angle lens and a 56mm telephoto lens for delivering stunning pictures. It also comes with a Portrait mode for creating high-quality DSLR images with blurred backgrounds.

Tim Cook also added that Apple underestimated demand for the iPhone 7 Plus, which led to supply issues that impacted sales. Apple sold a record of 78.3 million iPhones worldwide, despite the fact that the phone lacked a headphone jack.

Judging by the numbers, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 8 (or iPhone 7s) should have a Plus variant with a dual-camera setup and a Jet Black color, seeing how these elements seem to greatly appeal to consumers.
