Apple published on Friday a new support article where it announced the availability of a worldwide keyboard service program for select MacBook and MacBook Pro models.

The Cupertino, California-based company has finally acknowledged that some of its MacBook and MacBook Pro models do have a problem with their keyboard where letters or characters may repeat unexpectedly or do not appear at all.

Also, Apple has determined that a small number of keyboards may have "sticky" keys feel or simply fail to respond. As such, Apple decided to repair these faulty keyboards in eligible MacBook and MacBook Pro models free of charge.

"The type of service will be determined after the keyboard is examined and may involve the replacement of one or more keys or the whole keyboard," said Apple in the support document.

Apple also said that if your MacBook or MacBook Pro comes with any other damage that stands in the way of the keyboard repair, it will be resolved first and you may have to pay for the respective repair.

Here are the eligible MacBook and MacBook Pro models

According to Apple's support document, the eligible MacBook models for its new keyboard service program are the 12-inch MacBook Early 2015 with Retina display, the 12-inch MacBook Early 2016 with Retina display, and the 12-inch MacBook 2017 with Retina display.

On the other hand, eligible MacBook Pro models include the 13-inch MacBook Pro 2016 with Two and Four Thunderbolt 3 ports, the 13-inch MacBook Pro 2017 with Two and Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports, as well as the 15-inch MacBook Pro 2016 and MacBook Pro 2017.

Those who own one of these MacBook or MacBook Pro models and experience issues with their keyboard are urged to go to the nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or mail in your device to the Apple Repair Center.
