Apple started iPhone X pre-orders yesterday, and the device sold out on the company’s store page in just 10 minutes, and many customers saw this as confirmation that initial supply was indeed constrained due to production issues.

Of course, it’s only natural for Apple to say nothing about the limited stock and praise iPhone X demand, and the company today released a statement to do just that, emphasizing that its anniversary model is truly selling like hot cakes.

“We are thrilled to be taking orders for iPhone X, the future of the smartphone. We can see from the initial response, customer demand is off the charts. We’re working hard to get this revolutionary new product into the hands of every customer who wants one, as quickly as possible. We will keep accepting orders online, and iPhone X will be available at Apple retail stores on Friday, November 3 starting at 8 a.m., as well as from our carrier and retailer partners around the world,” the firm said.

No specifics figures just yet

Unfortunately, details as to how many iPhone X units were pre-ordered on October 27 would never be shared, though some figures will be included in the earnings call that the company will hold on November 2.

Analysts, however, estimated Apple to have an initial iPhone X stock of approximately 3 million units for all stores across the world. In the case of previous iPhone generations, Apple sold approximately 10 million units only in the first weekend, and given the extraordinary demand for this anniversary model, it’s hard to believe such a limited stock could be enough.

Right now, if you pre-order an iPhone X, you’ll get it in approximately 6 weeks, though it’s expected the waiting time to be a lot shorter as Apple is working with suppliers to speed up production. The first lucky buyers will receive it as soon as November 3, though we’ve seen lots of people complaining about the pre-order process that didn’t confirm their order or failed due to various reasons.
