Apple has updated its App Store statistics page today informing the app developer community the current adoption rate of the latest iOS 11 mobile operating system reached 65 percent.

According to Apple, the iOS 11 mobile operating system that the company released last September is now being used on 65 percent of supported iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. Last month, iOS 11 was used on 59 percent of all supported devices, which means that it saw a growth of only 6 percent.

Each month, the Cupertino-based company updates its App Store statistics page to inform application developers about the current adoption of the latest iOS release. This month's data was measured by the App Store on January 18, 2018. The chart also shows that 28 percent of devices still use the older iOS 10 operating system.

On the other hand, only 7 percent of the iPhone, iPad, and iPod devices that were signed into the App Store during the past six weeks are using an earlier version of the iOS mobile operating system, though Apple didn't mention which version is that.

iOS 11 could reach 100% adoption before the release iOS 12

This trend was kept in place since the release of iOS 11 last fall, which means that the iOS 11 adoption could reach 100% before the release of the iOS 12 operating system this fall, but only if Apple pledges to continue push point releases that bring important security patches, as well as new features.

For example, the iOS 11.2.5 software update is coming next week and it could boost the adoption with another 5 percent or more as it addresses some critical flaws, forcing users to update their devices. In the same manner, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that another important update is coming soon with new battery features.

This summer, during the WWDC (Worldwide Developer Conference) 2018 event, Apple will unveil the next major update to the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch operating system, iOS 12, which will immediately enter beta stages of development. The final iOS 12 release is coming mid-September 2018.
