iPhone X remains the best selling iPhone model in Q3

Despite recent statistics indicating the iPhone 8 was the best-selling iPhone model during the third quarter, new data shared by none other than Apple’s CEO Tim Cook reveals the iPhone X was actually the one leading the charts.

iPhone revenue increased by 20 percent year-over-year, and customer satisfaction reached no less than 98 percent, which is impressive to say the least given the rising competition from other brands, like Samsung and Huawei.

Tim Cook says iPhone X performed particularly well thanks to first-time smartphone buyers, users who decided to upgrade from an older model, and people coming from Android. No specifics were provided on each of these categories.

“iPhone had a very strong quarter. Revenue was up 20 percent year-over-year, and the active install base grew by double digits, driven by switchers, first-time smartphone buyers, and our existing customers. iPhone X was the most popular iPhone in the quarter once again, with a customer satisfaction score of 98 percent according to 451 Research,” Tim Cook said.

New iPhones landing in September

Apple CFO Luca Maestri says there are signs sales would continue growing in the coming months, and the new iPhone lineup to launch in September is likely to be the big winner of this increasing demand for iPhones.

“The latest survey of U.S. consumers from 451 Research indicates that across all iPhone models, customer satisfaction was at 96 percent. Combining just the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and iPhone X, it was even higher at 98 percent. Among business buyers who plan to purchase smartphones in the September quarter, 81 percent plan to purchase iPhones, up three points from the last survey,” he was quoted as saying.

Apple will take the wraps off three different iPhone models this year, namely an iPhone X successor, a Plus-sized model, and an LCD version with a 6.1-inch screen and possibly selling at a lower price.
