A new report coming from German website Giga Apple suggests Apple is working on manufacturing iPhone 7s and 7s Plus models that have a slightly thicker design than the current iPhone 7 variants due to glass back.

Giga Apple's reliable source told them that the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus models would sport a slightly bigger body, but sport a thinner camera bulge. According to the schematics you see below, the iPhone 7s is a bit taller, broader and thicker than iPhone 7.

In numbers, the Apple's forthcoming iPhone 7s model is with 0.11mm thicker and 0.13mm broader and taller than the iPhone 7, whose dimissions are 138.31mm x 67.14mm x 7.1mm. According to the report, iPhone 7s exact dimissions are 138.44 x 67.27mm x 7.21mm.

Shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone

But that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone because the iPhone 6s model was also thicker, broader, taller, and heavier than the previous iPhone 6 variant, due to the added 3D Touch display and haptic feedback motor. But this time, the report says iPhone 7s' slightly bigger body is due to glass back design.

Giga Apple believes that Apple is manufacturing the iPhone 7s' back from glass instead of aluminum as it did with previous models launched in recent years, though it's a bit hard to believe that Apple is returning to a glass design, and the source can't confirm the change also.

We tend to believe that iPhone 7s' wireless charging capabilities will have to due with the device being slightly thicker than the predecessor. One thing is for sure, Apple's next iPhone that the Cuperino-based company will unveil next month is sporting a bigger and more advanced camera.

The report mentiones nothing about Apple releasing an iPhone 8 model with OLED display and facial recognition technologies implemented in the front camera as several rumors suggested lately, though KGI Securities Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that Apple plans to launch the iPhone 8 along with iPhone 7s and 7s Plus models in September.
