Apple is working on its upcoming iPhone 8, the smartphone that will mark the 10-year anniversary since the first iPhone was launched. There have been many reports regarding the upcoming phone, and the latest reveal that the iPhone 8 will come with a curved OLED display, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy edge models.

The Wall Street Journal has just reported that the next iPhone will come with a curved OLED display, while the other two phones that Apple will announce will have LCD screens. The report also mentions that Apple will launch a total of three models towards the end of this year.

The new OLED displays will most likely be manufactured by Samsung, as the South Korean company is the biggest maker of OLED displays in the market. LG and JDI don’t have the capacity to mass-produce OLED displays at a scale that Apple would need. The price of the upcoming iPhone 8 is said to be higher than $1,000.

Iris scanner, wireless charging and new front camera for 3D selfies

The report also mentions that Apple intends to ditch the home button on its upcoming iPhone 8 and feature a touch zone at the bottom of the device. This isn’t the first rumor stating that Apple could incorporate a "function area" or secondary touchscreen below the display. Apple might also intend to replace the Lightning connector with a USB-C port.

iPhone 8 is also said to come with a 3D-tracking front camera that would merge the depth information with 2D images from the front camera. It would have the capacity to be used for face and iris recognition, as well as 3D selfies.

Aside from this, the phone is said to feature wireless charging technology and an all-glass design with a steel frame. The phone is expected to come with a 5.8-inch display with 2k resolution and 2.5D glass on top, 3GB of RAM and 64GB or 256GB of internal storage.
