There are many rumors surrounding Apple’s upcoming iPhone smartphone and we’re expecting it to bring innovative new features, considering that it will be the 10th iPhone that the Cupertino company releases.

Apple usually announces new flagship iPhones during a keynote in September every year and the company’s invitation has allegedly leaked. The image was posted by Twitter user @dbrand and hints towards wireless charging capabilities on the upcoming phone.

Dbrand is a maker of skins and cases for the iPhone and other flagship smartphones, including from OnePlus and Samsung. Take this information with a grain of salt, though, considering that we are six months away from Apple’s keynote event, but this invitation could very well be a draft, and not the final product. There’s no way of telling for sure, but the image does bring into discussion a long rumored feature on the upcoming iPhone 8.

iPhone 8 might be equipped with long-range wireless charging

Some previous reports have stated that Apple’s next iPhone might come with wireless charging. This would be a bold move from Apple and it signals the fact that the company is trying to work towards an iPhone with absolutely no wires or ports. Granted, this is a bit far-fetched, but if the company decides to implement wireless charging in the new phone, it would surely provide the wow-factor for its fans.

Truth be told, wireless charging has been available for Android-running smartphones for quite some time now, Samsung has it for its Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, while there’s no reason not to be featured on the upcoming Galaxy S8. However, Apple might be planning to add long-range wireless charging feature, which is superior to existing wireless charging methods. Long-range wireless charging doesn’t require devices to be as close to a charging source or mat and reports say that Apple is already working with Energous on this technology.

With the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Apple completely removed the 3.5mm headphone jack and provided customers with the option to buy AirPods wireless headphones, but for a steep price of $150. Wireless charging capabilities on the iPhone 8 would surely drive the phone’s price up.
