A recent report from the MacRumors site claims that Apple's iPhone 8, which the Cupertino company plans to unveil this fall, will ship with a powerful 10W USB-C wall charger suggesting fast charging capabilities of the upcoming device.
It's not the first time iPhone 8 is rumored to come with fast charging capabilities, as KGI Securities' Ming-Chi Kuo Apple analyst said back in March that it's very possible for Apple's next flagship iPhone to feature a Lightning connector with USB-C Power Delivery for faster charging.
And now, it looks like the MacRumors site obtained a research note that Barclays recently distributed to its clients, written by analyst Blayne Curtis, where it notes the fact that the rumored iPhone 8 smartphone will come bundled with a 10W USB-C wall charger and an integrated USB-C Power Delivery chip.
"We believe that in the iPhone 8, Apple likely includes Cypress Semiconductor's USB-C Power Delivery chip in the phone and an additional chip within the power brick in box (likely a new 10W, which would use a more integrated solution with Cypress Power Delivery)," reads Barclays research note obtained by MacRumors.
The chip appears to be the same Apple used in the 10.5-inch iPad Pro
Barclays' new research note suggests that Cypress Semiconductor's chip (CYPD2104) could be the same one that Apple used in the recently unveiled 10.5-inch iPad Pro tablet, which features fast charging capabilities as the Cupertino company revealed during its keynote speech at the WWDC 2017 event on June 5.
In related news, a recent discovery from within the iOS 11 mobile operating system, which will power Apple's next flagship iPhone device, suggest that wireless charging functionality may be implemented in the so-called "iPhone 8" smartphone. The discovery is a sound file that you can listen here.
