iHelpBR's Filipe Espósito revealed earlier on Twitter (via MacRumors) a reference to a "Modern iPad" in Apple's latest iOS 11.3 firmware update, which could mean the company is planning to release a new iPad model soon.

Apple is reportedly planning to release another iPad Pro tablet later in the year, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, and Filipe Espósito's discovery may be the first of many to point to Apple's next-generation tablet, which could feature slimmer bezels and Face ID functionality similar to that of the iPhone X.

When it unveiled the iPhone X, Apple said it would pave the way to new generation of iPhone and iPad devices, maybe even Macs too, and the biggest new technology the Cupertino-based company implemented in the 10th anniversary iPhone model is Face ID, which lets users unlock the device with their face.

An iPad with Face ID sounds just right to us

The "iPad.Modern" string discovered today by iHelpBR editor Filipe Espósito in the first iOS 11.3 beta update definitely means a new iPad is coming, but it doesn't necceseraly mean it will sport Face ID, nor slim bezels. However, an iPad with Face ID sounds just right to us because it's the next move in the evolution of Apple's iPad.

Renowned iOS developer Guilherme Rambo confirmed Filipe Espósito's finding, and noted the fact that there was a "iPhone.Modern" string discovered in a previous iOS software update that referred to the iPhone X, which Apple unveiled last year during a September 12 event that took place in the new Steve Jobs Theater.

Recent reports have also suggested Apple could unveil a new generation of iPhone models later this year that continue the evolution of the company's iOS-powered devices with groundbreaking features. bigger screens, and more RAM. One thing is for sure, the 2018 iPhone and iPad models will boast the major iOS 12 software update.
