Apple promised to bring back the original performance of older iPhone devices with the upcoming iOS 11.3 mobile operating system update, something that's been recently confirmed by those running the latest beta version.

According to some benchmarks did by iHelpBR editor Filipe Espósito on an iPhone 6 Plus smartphone running either the iOS 11.2.1 stable release or the latest iOS 11.3 beta, the performance of the device is restored to its original state when the updating it to iOS 11.3.

"My iPhone 6 Plus benchmarks with and without the performance reduction. iOS 11.3 really brings back the original speed," says Filipe Espósito in a tweet. It should be noted that the device's battery is degraded, according to the new Battery Health feature in iOS 11.3.

Even with only 75 percent maximum capacity, the battery of Filipe Espósito's iPhone 6 Plus smartphone can still support normal peek performance, though Apple's Battery Health feature recommends a new battery to fully restore the performance of the device.

Coming soon to all iPhone 6/6s, iPhone 7, and iPhone SE users

Apple's upcoming iOS 11.3 mobile operating system update is coming this spring to all supported iPhone devices, and it will incorporate a new Battery Health feature that shows users how degraded the battery is and if it needs to be replaced.

While not yet implemented in the current beta release, Apple also promised a new toggle that lets users of older iPhone devices, such as iPhone SE, iPhone 6/6 Plus, iPhone 6s/6s Plus, and iPhone 7/7 Plus, to disable the deliberate slowdowns implemented in earlier versions.

However, if you choose to disable the performance throttling on your older iPhone device with a degraded battery, running iOS 11.3, you'll have to live with unexpected shutdowns under certain conditions, such as when it's cold outside and the battery isn't fully charged.
