Cupertino shows how easy it is to switch to iPhones

Apple has released three new videos as part of its “Switch to iPhone” campaign in an attempt to convince more Android users to jump ship to its own device.

The new videos come in line with the revamped Switch website and put the emphasis on the easy transition from an Android device to an iPhone, with data like contacts to be transferred to an Apple device as part of a smooth process.

Additionally, Apple also talks big about the security of its iPhone and the software that “just works,” trying to put Android in a bad light for the issues that users have been complaining in the past, but also for the security issues that are said to affect the platform.

iOS vs. Android

Apple is becoming more aggressive in its attempt to bring more Android users on iPhones, and it’s all happening for a good reason: the company is losing ground against Google’s mobile platform and trends show that the gap between the two is increasing.

Statistics provided by Kantar for the three-month period ending January 2017 shows that iOS is very far behind Android in the majority of markets, including both the United States and Europe.

In the EU5 region (Germany, UK, France, Italy, and Spain), Android is leading the market with no less than 74.3 percent sales share, while iOS is the runner-up with just 22.7 percent. The difference is a bit smaller in the United States where Apple takes the second spot with 42 percent, while Android is the leader with 56.4 percent.

China, a country where Apple is struggling to grow bigger, is all about Android, with no less than 83.2 percent of the phones sold there in the said period running Google’s mobile OS. Apple is second with just 16.6 percent.

As a result, the revamp of the Switch campaign is not at all surprising, and videos like these are likely to keep coming. Furthermore, expect Apple to make the fight against Android a big deal at WWDC next month, especially as news on the iOS front is also likely.
