14 DAY TRIAL // Today, Apple announced new red color variants for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, together with a new iPad that would replace the current iPad Air 2. The iPad introduced by Apple today is quite similar to the iPad Air 2, but it does feature some differences.
The new Apple iPad comes with an A9 chip and a brighter Retina display. Apple simply called the new tablet “iPad,” after the company decided to discontinue the Air 2. The device is an entry-level tablet with a 9.7-inch display and prices reaching $329 for the 32GB variant and $429 for the model with 128GB of internal storage.
The tablet doesn’t have a fully laminated display or anti-reflective coating, but it does feature a 2048 x 1536 resolution and 264ppi, together with an 8MP iSight rear camera and 1.2MP front shooter with FaceTime features.
The new iPad will be available to order starting this Friday
The new 9.7-inch iPad has two speakers, a Lightning connector and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also features Touch ID with support for Apple Pay, Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity options.
“New customers and anyone looking to upgrade will love this new iPad for use at home, in school, and for work, with its gorgeous Retina display, our powerful A9 chip, and access to the more than 1.3 million apps designed specifically for it,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
Considering its lower price, the new iPad doesn’t have the Smart Connector, Apple Pencil or Smart Keyboard support that the iPad Pro offers.
The new 9.7-inch iPad will be available for order starting this Friday, March 24, from Apple.com and in Apple Stores next week. Customers from a number of countries will be able to buy the new tablet in the coming months.
