After launching earlier today the final release of the iOS 10.3 mobile operating system on supported iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices, Apple pushed the fourth maintenance update to macOS 10.12 Sierra users.

macOS 10.12.4 Sierra has been in development for the same amount of time as iOS 10.3, since the end of January, during which it received no less than eight Beta builds that allowed registered developers and public beta testers to get an early taste of what's coming to the operating system for their beloved Macs.

The biggest new feature implemented by the Cupertino company in the macOS 10.12.4 Sierra update is Night Shift, a new desktop functionality that's here to protect users' eyes from the blue light of digital devices by automatically shifting the colors of your display to the warmer end of the spectrum after sunset.

Siri improvements, dictation support for Shanghainese language

Among other features that landed in today's macOS Sierra 10.12.4 release, we can mention dictation support for Shanghainese language and the ability to navigate, write, and read PDF documents using a set of brand-new system-provided APIs (Application Programming Interfaces).

Additionally, Siri support was improved to allow users to check for Cricket scores, players, and schedule rosters from the Indian Premier League and International Cricket Council. The macOS Sierra 10.12.4 update is also here to improve the overall security, compatibility, and stability of your Mac.

Users can update their computers to the macOS 10.12.4 Sierra version right now if they open the Mac App Store application and go to the Updates tab. There, you should see the new macOS Sierra 10.12.4 update, so click on the download and install button. Your Mac will be restarted for the new version to be installed.

macOS Server 5.3 was also released today and is available for purchase from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
