Following on the release of the macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 software update earlier today, Apple pushed a new maintenance update for the iTunes 12.7 music player with some minor improvements.

Apple released the new iTunes 12.7 stable series of the music player and organizer back in November with a focus on music, podcasts, audiobooks, movies, and TV shows. A first point release arrived on the last day of October with the macOS 10.13.1 High Sierra update, and now iTunes 12.7.2 is here following on macOS 10.13.2.

"The new iTunes focuses on music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and audiobooks. Apps for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch are now exclusively available in the new App Store for iOS. And the new App Store makes it easy to get, update, and redownload apps—all without a Mac or PC," wrote Apple.

Only minor app and performance improvements

With today's iTunes 12.7.2 release, Apple only added some minor app and performance improvements to the music player, which is now available for both macOS and Microsoft Windows platforms. There aren't any specific details on these improvements, so we can't tell you what exactly Apple fixed in this update.

What we can tell you is that it's a welcome update, as with most new software versions released lately, which should make iTunes a better place for all of our music needs and more. We recommend updating to iTunes 12.7.2 as soon as possible on your Mac or download it for Windows.

iTunes 12.7.2 is supported on Windows 7 or later, as well as OS X version 10.10.5 or later. Check out the iTunes website for the complete system requirements before installing the new iTunes release, and remember always to keep your apps up-to-date at all times as new releases fix issues and improve performance.
