Ads aimed at users thinking of switching to iPhone

Apple has just released a new series of ads that are specifically aimed smartphone users who are pondering a switch to iPhone.

As it did several times in the past, Apple tries to show the ugly face of Android, putting the iPhone in a good light and praising some of the features that are typically rather successful, such as the easy photo editing system to adjust settings like colors.

Apple highlights how easy it is to switch from Android to iPhone, while at the same time emphasizing that its own platform is more secure and customers receive better support.

Android, number one worldwide

Apple has a very good reason why it’s going so aggressively after Android’s users. Google’s mobile operating system is currently number one worldwide, and by the looks of things, only sky’s the limit, with iOS barely increasing in global markets despite the arrival of new models like the iPhone X.

Data provided by Kantar, for instance, shows that in the three-month period ending in December 2017, Android was the leading choice for new mobile devices even on Apple’s own turf. The US mobile market was dominated by Android with 55.3%, followed by iOS with 43.9%.

Things are even worse for iOS in the largest European markets like Spain, where Android is the number one mobile operating system with a sales share for the said period of no less than 87.1%, while iOS is far behind with 12.7%. In the UK, Android was running on 55.3% of the new phones sold in the three months ending December, while iOS was the runner-up with 44.2%.

It remains to be seen how successful this new campaign is going to be, especially coupled with a revamped iPhone lineup projected to go live in the fall of 2018.
