14 DAY TRIAL // Apple was quick to releases another beta of its upcoming iOS 11.2 and macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 operating systems today after seeding a beta build to devs and public beta testers just a few days ago.
Only the iOS 11.2 and macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 operating systems received their sixth beta update today. Tagged as builds 15C114 for iOS 11.2 beta 6 and build 17C85a for macOS High Sierra 10.13.2, the new betas are available as we speak for both registered developers and public beta testers.
While Tuesday's beta 5 update failed to improve battery life on iOS 11.2, one thing caught our attention about today's sixth beta release, and that's the size of the update. On our iPhone 7 unit, the iOS 11.2 Public beta 6 update has 1.95GB in size, which can only mean that it's the last beta and Apple plans to release the final version soon.
We'll try to report in the next few days if the beta 6 update changes anything in regards to the battery life of our iPhone 7 unit running iOS 11.2, which was very terrible since beta 3. And no, it wasn't because of that battery-draining bug of the YouTube app as we initially thought. In the meantime, make sure to update your devices to the new beta.
iOS 11.2, macOS 10.13.2, tvOS 11.2, and watchOS 4.2 coming next week
As you've probably noticed, we didn't mention anything in this story about the tvOS 11.2 and watchOS 4.2 operating systems, and that's because Apple stopped updating them since the beta 5 for tvOS 11.2 and beta 4 for watchOS 4.2. Also, the Xcode 9.2 IDE only received two betas during this cycle.
We have all the reasons to believe that Apple will release the final iOS 11.2, macOS High Sierra 10.13.2, tvOS 11.2, and watchOS 4.2 software updates next week, and that's because of the last couple beta versions didn't contain any major changes. We don’t have an official release date, but expect them all very soon.
