The new iOS beta is only available for developers

Apple has just released the second developer beta of iOS 11, this time including some pretty significant changes ahead of the public launch of the update.

As it’s the case of new beta versions released by Apple, there are no release notes available, but the company has already confirmed iOS 11.1 betas would come with a new set of emoji.

The updated pack includes hundreds of new emoji characters, including a bearded person, a zombie, and redesigned smiley faces. You can read more about the new iOS 11.1 emoticons here.

Apple Pay Cash also in the works

As for the other improvements that are part of this beta version, it’s believed Apple is also preparing Apple Pay Cash, a new payment system that was announced by the company earlier this year at WWDC but expected to be part of the final iOS 11.1 release.

Apple Pay Cash is a person-to-person payment feature that allows iPhone and iPad users to quickly transfer money to a contact using cards generated and shared via iMessage. Once someone with Apple Pay Cash activated receives such a card, they are allowed to use the money for buying content from the App Store, transfer the funds to their credit cards, or even use them in Apple Stores for purchases.

Other than that, all we have are rumors, including one claiming that Apple could bring 3D Touch support in multitasking. This feature has been removed with the release of iOS 11, which was a somewhat surprising decision, and following public backlash, Apple could bring it back with the release of iOS 11.

For the time being, today’s beta is only available for developers, but public testers could get it in the coming days as well if no major bugs are discovered.

As with any other beta, don’t forget this is preview software and certain issues are likely to be discovered. Apple recommends users not to install these updates on production devices and so do we.
