Here's what's new for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users

After yesterday's big announcements Apple made during its now-famous "See you on the 7th" event, the Cupertino company pushed the GM (Golden Master) versions of iOS 10, macOS Sierra, watchOS 3, and tvOS 10 to registered developers.

We have to admit that we were expecting to see the final releases of these next-generation operating systems from Apple go public immediately after the event, but it didn't happen. That's because Apple decided to seed the Golden Master builds just in case some last-minute bugs were to be discovered before the said OSes hit the streets.

However, a GM version is the equivalent of the final build of a piece of software, so if you install it now, you won't get a notification to install iOS 10 when it hits the stable channel for the rest of the world, only if some changes were made, which rarely happens, and if it does, that's what point releases for (e.g. iOS 10.1).

Anyway, when the Golden Master versions of iOS 10, macOS 10.12 Sierra, tvOS 10, and watchOS 3 were out last evening, we believed that they were available only for application developers enrolled in the Apple Developer program so that they could prepare their apps for the final launch on September 13, 2016.

Now public beta testers can install iOS 10 GM too

Looks like we were wrong, and if you're a public beta tester using the seventh Beta build of iOS 10, which was last seeded last month on the 26th, along with the Beta 8 milestone for devs, you'll get a notification to install the iOS 10 mobile operating system on your registered devices, the GM version, of course.

This is a big update of about 1.8GB in size (at least on our iPhone 6 device), so it will take some time for it to be downloaded and installed, as it will completely overwrite the current Beta version you're using. In the meantime, you can read the release notes, or take a look at the gallery below, to see what's new in iOS 10.

Update: We've been informed by one of our readers, Hawon Nguyen, about an issue in macOS Sierra after upgrading to the GM version. He reports slowness with the Wi-Fi connection after the update. It appears that he's not the only one affected by the bug, and a workaround is available at http://www.cydiageeks.com/fix-slow-wi-fi-issues-macos-sierra-upgrade.html. However, we have not tested this method yet, so you should be careful not to harm your computer.
