To solve an issue where users weren't able to install apps in a business environment with the latest version of iTunes, it would appear that Apple has quietly released a build that allows businesses to continue to deploy apps.

With the launch of the iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra operating systems, Apple recently updated its popular iTunes music player and organizer to version 12.7, a release that dropped support for syncing apps and ringtones on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch devices running iOS 11, in an attempt to force users to use the new App Store.

In an Apple Support document entitled "Deploy apps in a business environment with iTunes," which was published recently probably due to the high demand from companies that need iTunes to deploy apps in a business environment, Apple offers Mac and Windows installers for iTunes 12.6.3, which allows the installation of apps.

"Apple offers Volume Purchase Programs and Apple Configurator on Mac to help enterprise environments manage and mass-deploy apps on iOS devices. But certain business partners might still need to use iTunes to install apps," noted Apple in the respective support document.

Here's how to replace iTunes 12.7 with iTunes 12.6.3

If you need to deploy apps on your infrastructure using iTunes, you can now replace iTunes 12.7, if you already upgraded the music player on your systems, with iTunes 12.6.3, which is available for download from the said Apple Support document for 64-bit and 32-bit Windows PCs, as well as Macs.

Once installation is complete, the ability to deploy apps will be automatically restored. Apple also noted the fact that if you install this specially crafted iTunes 12.6.3 build on your computers, you won't be prompted to install iTunes 12.7 or a newer release. However, Apple provides technical support only for the latest iTunes release.
