TrendForce agency revealed estimations about Apple’s iPhone production this year. TrendForce believes that the next iPhone release will be one of the most anticipated events on the global consumer electronics market in 2017.

The agency estimates that Apple will produce at least 10 million units of the new iPhones this year, while the iPhone 8 with AMOLED display will make up the greatest share. Apple is said to produce a total of 230 million iPhones this year, which is 6% more compared to 2016.

The iPhone 8 will be the first to have an AMOLED display, aside from other high-end features. The smartphone is expected to come with a 5.8-inch display and 2k resolution, alongside 2.5D glass on top. The report says that Apple won’t implement the curved display design on the high-end iPhone, because of issues with the 3D glass when it comes to production yield and drop test results.

Two new iPhones will be announced this year, together with the iPhone 8

The iPhone 8 won’t have a physical home button and its display aspect ratio could exceed 2:1. The smartphone could have 3GB of RAM and 64GB or 256GB of internal storage. The report also mentions that the iPhone 8 will incorporate 3D Sensing technology that would provide facial recognition and features for augmented reality.

Moreover, the other two iPhones to be announced this year will have sizes of 5.5 inches and 4.7 inches. Both will feature LCD displays, while the 5.5-inch model might have 3GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal memory. The 4.7-inch phone is said to have 2GB of RAM and offer a variant with 256GB of storage.

The iPhone 8 is estimated to account for at least 40% of the whole production of next-generation iPhones this year and it will trigger “a huge wave of replacement demand,” according to TrendForce. The price of the phone is said to exceed $1,000.
