Tech companies are the most sought-after employers in the United States, according to the 2018 LinkedIn Top Companies research, with Amazon in the leading place followed by Alphabet, the parent company of Google, and Facebook.

Salesforce comes fourth just ahead of Tesla, while Apple is sixth in the charts, an improvement of one place versus the previous year.

Microsoft isn’t included in the analysis since it’s the parent company of LinkedIn, and neither is the business social network itself.

As for the reasons why employees pick these companies, LinkedIn says Amazon’s continued expansion makes it not only the second-largest employer in the US, but also one very appealing name for those seeking a new job. Amazon will soon open a second headquarters in the US and investments in the offline market are growing as well.

Apple offering major discounts on its own products

In the case of Alphabet, which is the owner of Google, LinkedIn says there are more than 1.1 million applications every year, and it’s no wonder why. The company offers good wages and top working conditions, with free cafes and espresso bars in a huge campus.

As for Apple, the company offers a long list of benefits, including 25 percent discount on its devices. Given that the iPhone X is the most expensive device ever launched by the company, that’s clearly quite a benefit, especially since employees might have some info on stock and availability ahead of everyone else. Additionally, Apple is also offering 18 weeks of paid maternity leave to moms and 6 weeks to dads, and also covers payments to freeze eggs for mothers who want to defer parenthood.

For what it’s worth, Apple currently sits at 123,000 global headcount, but the analysis reveals that the company actually increased engineering and IT staff by 8% and 4% respectively last year.
