Immediately after releasing the major iOS 11 software update to supported iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices, Apple pushed a new update to its Apple Music app for Android, bringing some much-needed features.

In case you forgot, there's an Apple Music app for Android devices too, and the latest version that arrived today in the Google Play Store promised to add some cool new additions, among which we can mention voice search functionality and a Recently Played widget that shows you the most recent music you've played.

Of course, the updated Apple Music app for Android also introduces the new profiles that let users discover music with their friends by creating a profile using either an existing Facebook or Instagram account. You'll be able to follow your friends and see what music they're listening to or share your playlists with them.

"Touch and hold the home button or say “Ok Google” to use your voice to play artists, albums, songs, and Beats 1 on Apple Music," said Apple in the release notes. "Now discover music with friends on Apple Music. Create a profile and follow others to see music they are listening to and playlists they’ve shared."

Another cool new feature that arrived with today's update of the Apple Music app for Android is shortcuts, allowing users to either start a new search or quickly play Beats 1 radio by simply tapping and holding the Apple Music icon. Various small bug fixes have been patched as well in this release.

Apple Music 2.2.0 for Android is available right now from Google Play store and can be installed on phones or tablets running Android 4.3 or later. If you already have the Apple Music app installed, all you have to is to go to the Google Play Store app and install the update from there.
