Out of nowhere, it would now appear that Apple is planning to unveil a Red edition of its iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus smartphones launched last September.

According to MacRumors, who obtained an internal memo that was distributed to Virgin Mobile employees earlier this week, Apple wants to release limited edition (PRODUCT)RED color iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models as soon as early next week, if the internal note is to be trusted.

Apple did a similar thing last year in March when it unveiled a (PRODUCT)RED edition of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones in an attempt to contribute to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, so now that the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus sales have been eclipsed by the much cooler iPhone X model.

Red iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models launching tomorrow

Virgin Mobile's internal memo obtained by MacRumors states that the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition models will be available in their inventory starting tomorrow, Monday, April 9, 2018, but it doesn't mention when exactly customers will be able to purchase them in stores.

The memo also notes the fact that Virgin Mobile customers will be able to pre-order the limited (PRODUCT)RED edition iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus smartphones on Monday when Apple will likely announce them in a press release as it did last year with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition.

What Apple might also launch tomorrow is the rumored Gold color iPhone X model, though that wasn't mentioned in Virgin Mobile's memo. The Cupertino, California-based company recently said it would announce its earnings results for the second fiscal quarter of 2018 on May 1. Stay tuned for tomorrow's announcement of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition.
