The current Skype version drops to one star and a half

Microsoft has recently revamped Skype, as it tries to transform its VoIP platform into a fully-featured instant messaging solution, but it looks like not everyone is a big fan of the new design and the updated features.

The reviews posted in the App Store indicate that Apple’s users are actually very frustrated with Skype’s new design, with some describing the application as “the worst Skype ever.”

It goes without saying that many people blasted Microsoft for this design, criticizing the company for ruining the experience on Skype and calling for “Apple and Linux to wipe you off the market.”

Other users think that Microsoft is completely destroying Skype, pointing out that ever since it purchased the company, the updates have done nothing else than breaking down everything.

“The new design is awful. I've been using Skype for ten years now because it had a simple layout and was easy to use and stabile functioning. This new design has functions that are totally useless and lost many features that I had been using (status: invisible for example, easy to see partnerlist). Skype started downhill when it was purchased by Microsoft and now it seems to have hit rock bottom. One star is too much,” one user explains.

Dropping rating

At this point, the rating of the current Skype version is one star and a half, while the all versions rating is currently at four stars. This shows just how disappointed users are with Microsoft’s new Skype design, despite the fact that the company hoped things to be completely otherwise.

Similar criticism is also posted in the Google Play store, with Android users complaining about some features that do not seem to work correctly after the new update.

“The new update is horrible, needs a serious reality check. Also it should, in my opinion go back to the way it was before easy to use and a great way of contacting friends by video or call as I have now uninstalled the app because of the new update and won't be installing again until the problem is resolved and you should be able to tap out of Skype but still be able to see people on the video call,” one user explains.

Microsoft is without a doubt aware of the criticism, but it remains to be seen if any update to refine the user experience would be provided anytime soon.
