Apple just improved its security team with a new hire

Apple has just improved its security team by adding a new member - forensic consult and security researcher Jonathan Zdziarski, a man who has been quite involved with the iOS community over the years.

Zdziarski shared the news on his personal blog. "I'm pleased to announce that I've accepted a position with Apple's Security Engineering and Architecture team, and am very excited to be working with a group of like-minded individuals so passionate about protecting the security and privacy of others," he writes.

The security expert adds that it feels like the decision is just the conclusion of what has been a matter of conscience for him. "Privacy is sacred; our digital lives can reveal so much about us - our interests, our deepest thoughts, and even who we love," he explains.

Zdziarski has been one of the most notable voices back when Apple was fighting with the FBI over the San Bernardino shooter's iPhone. At the time, the FBI was demanding Apple to crack the device, but the company refused, saying there was nothing they could do, even if they wanted to. In the end, the FBI found a way around the encryption and no longer needed Apple's help. Currently, the intelligence agency is fighting against several organizations asking it to divulge its cracking method. In response, the FBI said that it can't do that because it's still a useful tool to have, and they're still using it.

Over the years, he also found backdoors into iOS and discovered security flaws in many popular apps, so it's probably good news that he's now joining Apple's security team to work on doing some good for the iOS community.

While his tone may change a bit now that he's officially employed by the tech giant, he's clearly going to be a good addition to the company.
