Though it’s hard to tell if this is the iPhone 8 or not

Everyone knows that Apple will take the wraps off new iPhones in September, but as with every new product of the company, nobody working for the Cupertino-based giant has said a single word about the new lineup of devices, which is very likely to include a brand-new iPhone 8.

CEO Tim Cook, however, dropped a vague hint earlier today following the company’s earnings report, suggesting that a new iPhone is indeed just around the corner, obviously without providing any specifics.

While iPhone sales dropped during the last quarter, Cook said the company expects revenue to grow to no less than $52 billion in next quarter, predicting what he described as “a very exciting fall.”

Although no details have been provided, an increase in iPhone sales mixed with a very exciting fall means that the company is most likely preparing to take the wraps off a new device. The current quarter ends on September 30, and there’s a chance that Apple targets an early September unveiling for the new iPhone, with sales to begin shortly after that, thus being able to boost revenue before the quarter ends.

iPhone 7s and 7s Plus

And despite Tim Cook all but confirming that a new iPhone is coming, there’s still something that remains an enigma at this point. Rumor has it that the company could delay the iPhone 8, so the new models hitting the shelves in September could actually be the iPhone 7s and the 7s Plus.

Both devices are expected to feature more subtle improvements as compared to the iPhone 8, which will make the transition to OLED displays, get rid of bezels, and come with facial recognition cameras.

The iPhone 8, on the other hand, could indeed be presented in September alongside the two other models, but only make it to the market in October or even November due to supply issues that Apple is struggling to deal with.

If this is the case, then Apple should expect even bigger sales for the next quarter, especially because the iPhone 8 is expected to contribute to a substantial upgrade cycle from existing iPhone customers.
