14 DAY TRIAL // There are lots of rumors out there regarding the upcoming iPhone 7, so it’s pretty hard to tell which ones can be trusted, but there’s a new report out there claiming that Apple is planning a pretty unexpected “surprise” for the device.
First of all, you've probably heard that the next iPhone will only come with small changes over the current 6s model, so it’ll be similar in size and features - there are contradictory leaks in this regard, and while some point to more significant upgrades on the upcoming model, such as a dual camera, others claim that no such thing will be offered.
And it appears that the small differences between the current and the next models have Apple adopt an unexpected name for the upcoming iPhone, with a report published by VentureBeat suggesting that the “iPhone 7” moniker has become very unlikely right now.
More exciting upgrades on the “2017 iPhone 7”
But before taking this for granted, there’s something else that needs to be mentioned here. The article is published by well-known mobile leaker Evan Blass, who reveals that this information was sent by an anonymous tipster whose identity could not be verified. So while at some level it could make sense not to call the upcoming model iPhone 7, nothing certain is known right now.
Instead of iPhone 7, the next device could be a variation of the iPhone 6 generation, but there’s absolutely no suggestions as to what Apple could call it when it launches in September.
On the other hand, it also raises questions as to how Apple plans to bring iPhone sales back to growth with so small changes brought to the device when everyone seems to be criticizing the company for its dull approach over phones.
The next year iPhone is believed to be a much more significant upgrade, featuring an all-screen front fascia with the FaceTime camera and the Touch ID integrated into the display, but also with a glass back just like the iPhone 4.
