Video reveals another demo unit shipped to Italian store

Apple’s new iPhone X won’t ship to customers until November 3, but since the device has already arrived in stores across the world in anticipation of the public launch, more units make the rounds showing demo units in hands-on presentations.

While it’s pretty clear that Apple doesn’t want these to be making the headlines, especially ahead of tech reviews that are expected this week, the company can’t do much about them, as every takedown notice for the said videos are followed by twice more re-uploads on various sharing platforms.

But what Apple can do right now is block iPhone X activation, and this is what the company has reportedly turned to with devices that were shipped to Italy.

It’s not known if Apple blocks activation only on demo units, but this is very likely to be the case, as reviewers need their devices to run with full capabilities.

Sold out in just 10 minutes

The iPhone X went up on pre-order on October 27 and it got sold out in just 10 minutes, with shipments then pushed back up to 6 weeks. This means that whoever pre-orders an iPhone X right now gets it a couple of weeks before Christmas, though there’s a chance Apple ships it a bit earlier than estimated as it works with suppliers to address the constrained stock.

At the same time, carriers have also sold the available iPhone X inventory pretty fast and shipping times have increased substantially in their case as well.

Analysts estimate Apple to address production issues as soon as November, and this should translate to growing supply by the end of the year. Most forecast bigger sales in early 2018 when the company should be able to align production with demand.

The iPhone X is available in two different versions, with 64GB and 256GB storage, and pricing start at $999 in the United States for the first version.
