The game can now be played straight from your wrist

Apple has just announced that, together with Niantic, it managed to bring Pokemon Go on the Apple Watch and make it possible to catch ‘em all straight from your wrist.

The new implementation makes it possible to play the game while “focusing on what’s important to you,” Niantic explains. A complication on the Apple Watch displays how much trainers have to walk for new eggs, with the device now capable of notifying when nearby Pokemon are discovered.

Furthermore, the Watch shows PokeStops and even lets you collect items by simply swiping on its display. “With Pokemon Go on Apple Watch, you’ll never skip a Pokestop,” Niantic says.

You can keep walking to hatch eggs, Niantic shows, and the Apple Watch activity summary now shows items that you collect in Pokemon Go too.

The new Pokemon Go will help players “get outside and have fun with friends,” Niantic adds. Pokemon Go will go live before the end of the year, the company guarantees, but no other specifics have been provided.

Apple Watch thus becomes the first wearable to support Pokemon Go, and there’s no doubt that this could have an impact on its sales. Apple says the Watch is already the second brand of watches in the world after Rolex and the top-selling smartwatch, leading in customer satisfaction surveys in the US.
