4MLinux developer Zbigniew Konojacki has informed Softpedia today, May 21, 2016, about the launch of an updated version of his open-source, standalone Antivirus Live CD project.
Now that the development of the 4MLinux 18.0 operating system is open, the developer will attempt to rebase all of his Live CD projects to the upcoming OS, including Antivirus Live CD, which is now at version 18.0-0.99.2, based on 4MLinux 18.0 Beta and built around the ClamAV 0.99.2 open-source antivirus software.
For those who are not in the known, Antivirus Live CD is exactly what its name suggests, a bootable, Live ISO image that includes good, standalone antivirus software to help you clean your PCs of viruses, no matter if it's a Microsoft Windows or Linux-based computer.
Antivirus Live CD can be installed on a USB flash drive or a CD discs, and was designed from the ground up by Zbigniew Konojacki to act as an OS-independent antivirus solution, based on the open-source and award-winning ClamAV (Clam AntiVirus) software, protecting your computer(s) against viruses and other malware.
4MLinux 18.0 stable is coming soon
As mentioned before, Antivirus Live CD 18.0-0.99.2 is based on the Beta release of the 4MLinux 18.0 operating system, which should hit the stable channel in the coming weeks, along with other sister projects, including 4MRescueKit, 4MParted, as well as 4MRecover. However, Antivirus Live CD 18.0-0.99.2 is to be considered a stable product.
Antivirus Live CD 18.0-0.99.2 is available for download right now via our website, and it is distributed in two variants: one that contains all the virus signatures from the upstream Clam AntiVirus project, and another one without them, which might just be perfect for those who don't have enough bandwidth to download the first edition.
