Fortunately, no one was injured in the explosion

It's been a terrible half of the year for Samsung, as the company ordered two global recalls of its now defunct Galaxy Note 7 flagship, and one global recall for … washing machines. But Samsung is not the only one that's been hit with these “explosion” issues, as there have been a few reports of iPhone 7 phones exploding as well.

However, since the battery technology hasn't really made any leaps into the future, smartphone makers are constrained to use what they have at their disposal, and Li-ion batteries are the way to go for the moment.

For many Samsung fans, it must have been quite a shock to watch the South Korean company struggling to find an answer to what's causing its Galaxy Note 7 phones to explode.

It's true that many phones explode throughout the world every day, but that doesn't happen with a certain brand or model like in Galaxy Note 7's case. In that regard, here is a new case of “exploding phone,” which, luckily, didn't end up at the hospital.

A new report coming from India claims a Reliance LYF smartphone exploded, but without injuring the owner or anyone else. There are pictures showing the remains of the device, and from what we're seeing, the LYF device must have burned quite intensely since the insides of the phone have been completely melted.

LYF quickly issued an official statement, which explains that “each phone goes through a stringent quality control process.” The Indian company says it's “concerned about the incident reported in social media and are taking the matter seriously.”

Just like in Samsung's case, LYF promises that they will be “assessing the cause and will conduct a thorough investigation in the matter,” because “customer safety is paramount to us and, based on our findings, we will take appropriate action.”

Obviously, the owner of the phone said that he would never use LYF smartphones again, but until the investigation ends, we don't know what caused the explosion. Hopefully, this is just an isolated report that won't affect other Reliance LYF handsets.
