Anonymous, the famous hacktivism group that helped spread awareness about the Edward Snowden revelations and a plethora of other social issues, is now focusing its efforts on the financial and banking sectors.

Through a YouTube video, the group has announced a new campaign dubbed Operation Black October, during which the hackers are urging people to pull their money out of the banks.

The operation has several goals and is encouraging users to:

- Take all the money out of bank accounts - Stop using credit/debit cards - Pay only in cash - (and of course) Spread the word about the campaign to others

Black October will be featured as Anonymous' main campaign during all the month of October, and the group will be dedicated to highlighting the corrupt state of the banking and financial industries.

The group has also been very friendly in the past to alternative solutions like Bitcoin, but even if omitted (intentionally or not) from their video, Bitcoin is a solid alternative to the current way people deal with money.

The way Bitcoin has been constructed appeals not only to hackers and social outcasts but also to the banking sector itself, only two weeks ago reporting on news that nine of the world's biggest banks are considering creating their own blockchain servers, one of the core technologies behind Bitcoin.
