Anonymous takes down several KKK websites

Conover Kennard, an outspoken celebrity who regularly and openly criticizes the hate speech promoted by the KKK (Ku Klux Klan) in the US and Canada, has seen a member of the Anonymous hacktivism group come to her defense after she was tormented on Twitter for weeks by a KKK clansman.

Kennard, former model and widow of Pete Farndon, bassist and founding member of the rock band the Pretenders, has been publicly criticizing the KKK for their unsanctioned hate speech against blacks and other minorities.

For this reason, various group members have been harassing her on various social networks, sending her multiple "Heil Hitler" messages (and others of the sort) from fake Twitter accounts, but none more than somebody naming himself Thomas Klan did.

This person drew the attention of one of Anonymous' members, a hacker specialized in DDoS attacks, who goes by the name of Amped Attacks.

The Anonymous hacker quickly did what he was known for and brought down some of KKK's websites, some of which are still down even at the time of this article's publication.

Anonymous and the KKK have a long history together

This is not the first time Anonymous and the KKK have clashed, as last year, during the Ferguson riots in Saint Louis, Anonymous attacked and took down numerous KKK websites because of the group's support for the US police forces (and subsequent criticism of the black population).

Additionally, Anonymous also hijacked the KKK official Twitter account during the same period, and later started exposing some of the group's members, revealing their real identities.

In an interview for Addicting Info, Kennard revealed the hacker was one of her friends, and that "he’s not a partisan guy and usually aims at ISIS sites," but decided to take action because of the abuse she was getting on Twitter.
