ISIS may have an image problem after December 11

After harassing ISIS members on social media by hunting and taking down their accounts, Anonymous is now assaulting their image, planning an organized trolling campaign on December 11.

While ISIS members often refer to them as wholesome warriors acting in Allah's name, Anonymous is now trying to expose them as the joke they are, urging users to release Photoshopped images, memes, and jokes with ISIS warriors as the main characters.

No, this is not a prank, and this strategy may be smarter than you'd initially think. With many Western-living Muslims falling for ISIS' silly social media propaganda, rebranding the terrorist group as goat fornicators may be the best idea Anonymous hackers ever had.

The campaign, announced a few days ago, was initially mocked as a childish April Fools' Day gag, but slowly, more and more users dedicated to the masterplan and announced all kinds of Photoshop art for next Friday.

The biggest trend started via this campaign is the one originating from 4chan, where users started doctoring ISIS propaganda images, replacing the heads of ISIS members with rubber ducks.

Here are some of Anonymous' goals:

→       Post mocking photos of ISIS on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook →       Use #Daesh and #Daeshbags (apparently ISIS hates being called Daesh) →       Try to get #Daeshbags trending on Twitter →       Use #'s that many ISIS members use, but post mocking photos instead →       Post photos of captured ISIS members and mock them →       Make mocking videos of ISIS →       Print out photos/stickers that mock ISIS and spread them around your city

"We will mock them for the idiots they are," reads the official Anonymous ISIS trolling campaign announcement. "We will show them what they really are they do not stand for a religion, they do not stand for a god, they are brainwashers teaching from the young to the old their propaganda against the 'west' when in reality they are just increasing the distance between countries by giving many a bad name."

Next Friday is going to be pretty entertaining!
