Canadian national telecommunications company TELUS announced that it brings the Essential Phone to Canada, after it signed a contract with Essential Products to be the preferred Canadian carrier and retail partner of this year’s hottest phone.

For those not familiar with TELUS, it's a telecommunications company known to provide wireless and Internet, as well as TV and Home Phone services across Canada, including regions like Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

Unveiled by Android co-founder Andy Rubin a couple of weeks ago, the Essential Phone is a powerful, Android-based phone, and it will be available for purchase only in Canada and the United States in a first instance, and it looks like Canadians can buy the premium smartphone only from TELUS.

"We selected TELUS as our preferred carrier partner in Canada due to our strong alignment on the importance of continuous innovation and support for consumer choice," said Andy Rubin, CEO of Essential. "We look forward to delighting Canadians with our premium crafted materials and powerful components."

The Essential Phone is an amazing device built using titanium and ceramic materials, featuring an edge-to-edge 5.7-inch (2560x1312) display, 128GB RAM, 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 2.45GHz Octa-Core Kryo 280 CPU, an Adren 540 GPU, a 13MP dual-camera system, and a 3040mAh non-removable battery.

In the weeks to come, TELUS will announce when their customers can pre-order the Essential Phone, so they recommend them to pre-register now on telus.com/essential if they want front-of-the-line access to pre-orders, along with pricing details and other exclusive offers that are yet to be unveiled at the end of July 2017.
