Andromeda OS could be previewed next month

A few days ago, an official from Google hinted that the October 4 event would have historical significance, similar to the launch of Android eight years ago. The comment set tongues wagging and some say that Google might preview Andromeda, a hybrid between Android and Chrome OS, during next month's event.

A report by Android Police reveals that Google might feature Andromeda OS on an upcoming Pixel 2-in-1 laptop in Q3 2017. Apparently, the laptop that turns into a tablet is dubbed Pixel 3 and would run the new Andromeda OS, which is a version of Chrome OS baked into an Android-based OS.

The Pixel 3 is also internally known as Bison and might come with a 12.3-inch touch display, an Intel m3 or Core i5 processor, 8 or 16GB of RAM, and a 10-hour battery life. Dual USB Type-C ports, stylus support and multiple sensors might be featured on the laptop that turns into a tablet. The price of the upcoming Pixel 3 could start at $799.

Andromeda could debut on a Google-Huawei Nexus tablet

Another report by 9to5Google shows that Andromeda would also launch on a 7-inch Google-Huawei Nexus tablet. There have been some reports about a new Nexus tablet in the past few months, but it seems that Google has been keeping the secret pretty well.

Back in June, a Huawei executive said the company was working on another Nexus device, but not much on the upcoming tablet has been heard since then. So Google's big surprise for the October 4 event could be a Nexus tablet running Andromeda OS. The report suggests that the tablet could come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820, 4GB of RAM, and a 13MP rear camera.

9to5Google also confirms that Google is testing the upcoming Andromeda OS on a Nexus 9 tablet, but that consumers won't be able to see the OS on this tablet model. Google is also expected to unveil the Pixel and Pixel XL soon. October 4 is exactly one week away, so expect more information to surface until the official event.
