ASUS said that Google's latest Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch operating system is coming to ASUS ZenWatch 3 around the date of July 11, and now it looks like it's finally rolling out.

If you've been waiting to install Android Wear 2.0 on your shiny ASUS ZenWatch 3 Android smartwatch, you should drop whatever you're doing and update your device. Some users are already reporting on reddit that they received the massive Android Wear 2.0 update on their devices.

Android Wear 2.0 is a major software version, and Google made sure it brings new life into your old Android smartwatch by adding big changes like Android Pay support, Google Assistant intelligent interface, a standalone Play store, standalone apps, custom watch faces, and the long-anticipated material design for the interface.

In addition, Android Wear 2.0 brings a new darker design, better notifications, an on-screen keyboard, rotational input support, fitness challenges, the ability to send quick replies to messages, and a lot more optimizations and under-the-hood performance improvements to increase the battery life and make your watch run better.

Huge battery life improvements, ASUS apps are no more

According to a redditor that already managed to install the Android Wear 2.0 update on his ASUS ZenWatch 3, it would appear that all the apps that ASUS installed in the device are no more, as they've been removed after the new Android Wear version was installed. He also said that the battery now lasts for days.

ASUS also said last month that the Android Wear 2.0 update would be coming to ASUS ZenWatch 2 owners in July and August, depending on the model you're wearing (in July for WI501Q model and in August for WI502Q). After so many delays, it was about time for ASUS to keep its word and deliver on its promise.
