Google is expected to unveil the upcoming Android OS version this summer, and while there is information on what users should expect, the name of Android N is yet to be revealed. However, there are some possible options, and a Google Android VP has been heavily hinting that the moniker could actually be Nutella.

During Google I/O, the company announced that the name of the upcoming Android OS would be decided following a public consultation, and anyone could post a suggestion as long as it was a dessert, and it started with the letter N.

The public consultation session has meanwhile ended, with Google only announcing that the moniker will be unveiled in a few weeks. That could actually mean anything, but it is a glimpse of hope that the unveiling could come sooner than later.

The Android VP has posted multiple tweets containing the Nutella word

Back to the name, Android VP Hiroshi Lockheimer has been posting tweets and suggesting that Nutella might be the name of the upcoming Android N. He has been posting images with restaurant dessert menus that included dishes with Nutella, saying that he was interested in a particular food. Moreover, the image shows that the only dessert on the list that started with the letter N was Nutella.

He also posted a screenshot of his desktop revealing the tasks that he was working on and showing that he had searched for Nutella on Google.

His tweets with the Nutella reference go back to even when the public consultation session hadn’t even started yet. To add to the confusion, he did post a tweet back in February revealing that he was a huge fan of Nutella, so these hints could actually mean nothing in connection to the Android N name.

On a wild guess, he’s either strongly hinting at the next Android N name or has an insatiable craving for some delicious cocoa spread, but we’re betting on the former.
