14 DAY TRIAL // The advent of Lollipop marked the first time Google offered a developer preview for its upcoming Android build. And with Android M, the system was made even smoother with the introduction of OTA updates.
The first Android M Developer Preview got introduced a few hours after the I/O 2015 keynote, and last month we saw the second Developer Preview 2 make its way into the wild. But as far as the third preview of Google’s upcoming Android M is concerned, things are getting a bit trickier.
The information is not your common hearsay but was shared by a Google employee via the Android M Developer Preview community page on Google+.
What's the reason behind the delay, you might wonder. Well, it appears Google wants its Android M Developer Preview 3 to be “a near final release,” so the company needs a little bit more time to work on that. Still, the preview will be made available pretty soon, but for now, Google hasn’t shared an exact launch date.
Android M and the new Nexus devices will probably arrive at the same time
On top of launching Android M into the wild, Google is also expected to unveil two new Nexus smartphones. One will be a reiteration of its 2013 Nexus 5 and will be once again manufactured by LG. For the second one, Google will be partnering up for the first time with Chinese smartphone maker Huawei.
The phone is expected to arrive with a 5.7-inch QHD display (2560 x 1440 pixel resolution) and take advantage of the services of a Snapdragon 810. Previously, we were told the handset might be bundled with a Snapdragon 820 chipset, but given the fact that Qualcomm is expected to start shipping out the silicone this December, the first models bundling the new architecture are tipped to make it out on the market in March.
As for the new LG Nexus 5, not much is known about it except that it could bundle a 3D dual camera and a fingerprint scanner (like the Huawei Nexus).
The two Nexus devices will be the first to arrive with Android M, which will most likely get version 5.2 and not 6.0.
