HMD Global has started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system to Nokia 3 smartphones today, bringing users the many goodies of Google's Android Oreo.

Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer at HMD Global, announced today on Twitter that the company kept its promise and listened to its customers, releasing the Android 8.0 Oreo software update to all Nokia 3 owners worldwide. The rollout starts today and could take up to a few weeks to arrive at all users.

Twice as faster as its predecessor, the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system adds dozens of new features and improvements, among which we can mention the ability to set background limits for app to minimize their background activity, smart text selection, as well as Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode for video playback.

With your permission, Android's Autofill feature will now remember your login credentials in Oreo so you can more quickly log into your favorite apps. Android 8.0 Oreo also brings notification dots to apps so you can quickly see what's new just by pressing them, and supports Android Instant Apps.

Android 8.0 Oreo introduces Google Play Protect

We all know that Android isn't as secure as we'd like it to be, but Google is doing everything it can to make it more secure and safe for everyone with each new major software update. Therefore, Android Oreo introduces Google Play Protect, a service that automatically scans billions of apps daily for malware, keeping your device and data safe at all times.

Of course, there are numerous other features included in the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system, some that might make your Android mobile experience more productive and enjoyable. As such, we recommend upgrading to Android Oreo today if you own a Nokia 3 smartphone. To update, simply open the Settings app and check for system updates, then install Android 8.0 Oreo.
