Google promised to bring Android 7.1.1 Nougat to Nexus devices sometime in December, but did not offer an exact release date. Although the search giant hasn't yet announced anything, we already know that the rollout should begin in early December.

Major carrier Vodafone Australia has just confirmed that one of the Nexus smartphones in its portfolio is going to get Android 7.1.1 Nougat update starting December 6. If you have the Nexus 6P, then you can be sure that you'll receive the update in less than two weeks from now.

The carrier did not mention any other Nexus device on its support website, but there's no doubt that Google will push the update to all other Nexus devices compatible with Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Speaking of which, we expect Google to begin the rollout of Android 7.1.1 to the following devices: Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, and Pixel C.

However, it remains to be seen whether or not the search giant will provide the update to all these devices at the same time, as it happened in the past.

Here is how Vodafone Australia customers will receive the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update on the Nexus 6P smartphones: day 1-3 – 10,000 phones selected randomly, day 4-13 – an additional 10% of the remaining pool, day 14 – all devices are eligible for the update.

This means that some Nexus 6P owners might receive the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update in mid-December or even slightly later.

It's also worth mentioning that the FOTA (firmware over-the-air) update is approximately 650MB, and that Nexus 6P users will be notified when it becomes available for download.

A few days ago, Google released Android 7.1 Developer Preview 2 for some Nexus devices, which is the last beta build before the final version gets deployed to all devices.
