Honor 8 users rejoice, as the Chinese company has just confirmed the Android 7.0 Nougat update will be released later today. Last year, Honor announced that its flagship would be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat and EMUI 5.0 in February.

True to its promise, the Chinese handset maker has announced that the rollout will begin on February 10. However, not all Honor 8 units will receive the update today, but the company said that Nougat should arrive on all devices by the end of the month.

There are a lot of changes coming to Honor 8 devices with Android 7.0 Nougat, but especially with EMUI 5.0. Many Huawei fans have been complaining about the EMUI 4.x skin, which apparently didn't live up to their expectations.

However, the new version of Huawei's Android skin comes with a lot of optimization and performance improvements, which should make the Honor 8 faster than ever before.

Along with the availability announcement, Honor confirmed some of the changes included in the update such as the stock Android feel, app drawer option and better battery life.

Also, the update contains many tweaks and bug fixes, including the option to rearrange settings list and the prioritization of camera modes. In addition, it is now much easier to share QR coded contacts.

There's also a new shortcut that will allow users to switch between user profiles, as well as more customization options for notifications and status bar.

According to Honor, the design of the new EMUI 5.0 has been inspired by the Aegean Sea landscape. Some of the under-the-hood improvements mentioned by the Chinese company include more dynamic, static, and local security.

Obviously, you'll also get a multi-window feature, along with all the new emoji made available by Google. If you own the Honor 8, you should start checking for the update by heading to Settings / System update.
