14 DAY TRIAL // Honor 8 is not the only smartphone that benefits from a beta program. Huawei's wholly-owned brand Honor has just announced it will soon kick off another Android 7.0 Nougat beta program for the Honor 5C.
The Honor 5C is a mid-range smartphone that made its debut on the market back in May. The phone ships with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box, but soon users will be able to download Android 7.0 Nougat.
Starting today, Honor debuts a Beta Test program for the 5C, which will offer users the chance to experience, collaborate, and help identify bugs in the preview versions of the EMUI Software.
The beta program is now recruiting 50 Honor 5C owners for the first beta build, while the second beta batch will be rolled out to 100 users. For the time being, the beta program for Android 7.0 Nougat is only available in India.
According to Honor, when a user joins the Beta Test program, they will automatically get the latest beta version of EMUI through an OTA (over the air) update as soon as it is made available.
“At Honor, we innovate in response to what we learn about the needs and habits of our customers through research, meaningful engagement and involving them in co-creating products and brand programs,” says Honor in the announcement.
Along with the new features and improvements included in Android 7.0 Nougat, Honor 5C users will also get the new EMUI 5.0, which features an app drawer, stock Android style recent apps card, app twin (multiple accounts), contact QR code active sharing.
Keep in mind, though, that since this is a preview version, some features might not be available or not working as intended. You might also experience issues with the phone's overall performance or functionality.
